An example of serendipity. After a leisurely boat trip on Lake Thun in Switzerland, we arrived in the town of Thun and had 45 minutes to spare before we caught the return boat.
The centre of town has a large weir on one of the branches of the river exiting the lake with a bridge spanning the weir. This gave an excellent view of a whitewater canoe competition being held in the turbulent water downstream. I ended up spending most of the time photographing the competition, so must return someday to see the town itself.
The photograph was taken using a fast shutter speed to freeze both the canoeist, and also the frothy water.
